Chevra Kadisha Services

Chevra Kadisha Mortuary offers traditional Jewish mortuary and cemetery services at affordable prices.

We service all Jewish cemeteries in Southern California. Some of the common Jewish cemeteries we service are Eden Memorial Park, Hillside Memorial Park, Home of Peace Memorial Park, Mount Sinai Memorial Park in both Hollywood Hills and Simi Valley, Mt. Olive Memorial Park and Shalom Memorial Park. Our funeral directors are available 24 hours a day in the event of death. Our own Jewish staff generally takes care of everything from the time of death until after the funeral service.

We perform the tahara (washing and dressing) and the shmira (person who stays with the deceased and recites Psalms).

The first step in making arrangements is choosing the cemetery. We have plots available at Beth Israel, Mount Carmel, Agudath Achim, and Young Israel Cemeteries. We have a grass lawn and concrete upright monument section at Home of Peace Memorial Park. We can also help you choose a plot in another memorial park and cemetery, if that is more suitable for your needs. The most common cemeteries that we perform services at are Eden Memorial Park, Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Hollywood Hills, Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Simi Valley, Hillside Memorial Park, Sholom Memorial Park, Harbor Lawn Memorial Park, Pacific View Memorial Park, as well as all other Jewish cemeteries in Southern California.

We do not provide cremation or embalming, as both of these are prohibited by Jewish law.

The traditional funeral package includes complete mortuary services, tahara, shrouds, shomer, funeral director, hearse at cemetery and plain pine casket. This price also includes the burial permit and one certified death certificate. This does not include the rabbi’s fee or cemetery charges. For more information please refer to our

When an individual has died in a hospital, the next-of-kin must sign a release to allow the Chevra Kadisha Mortuary to pick up the deceased. This form can be the hospital’s or ours. We must also be provided with the deceased’s vital statistics such as date of birth, social security number, occupation, address, and parents’ names. (You can obtain the vital statistics and release form by clicking here.)

We require the name of the primary physician and doctor’s phone number. If a death has occurred on Shabbos or Jewish holiday, our calls are directed to an experienced mortuary answering service. The service operator will arrange for the removal of the deceased. After Shabbos or Yom Tov, our funeral director calls the family.

Many people sign up with our guaranteed pre-need funeral plan. Why not lock in today’s prices with tomorrow’s need? We accept payments as low as $350 a month. All pre-need funds are placed in a trust account until time of need. This plan frees the family from difficult decisions at a time of emotional distress. With your pre-need arrangement, you make just one phone call to us and we will handle everything.
